Getting Your Plumbing Ready For Spring!

Now that old man winter has packed his bags, it’s the perfect time to prepare for one of the most popular seasons in Ontario: spring! With the prevalence of green grass and sprinklers on the horizon, we recommend that you get a head start on getting your plumbing ready for this season.

Getting Your Plumbing Ready For Spring!

We have compiled some essential tips below that can help you prep your plumbing for the spring season:

-When turning your hose’s water line back on, be sure to inspect it and see if there are any leaks. Leave it running for a few minutes so you can try to detect any performance-related issues. If you notice a leak, contact a licensed plumber and get it sealed.

-Ensure that your drains are functioning optimally. If you notice any sluggish performance issues, it may be due to a clogged drain. Consult with a licensed plumber to get it properly cleaned out.

-Inspect your water heater. If you notice any leaks at the bottom of the tank (even if you notice a few drops of water,) you should try to get them properly sealed as soon as possible.

-Clean out your gutters. Ensure that your downspouts are still facing away from your home to prevent any damage to your foundation.

-Check to see if your sump pumps are functioning without any issues.

-Examine any pipes that are outside of your house. These are easily susceptible to damage during the winter. Since we’ve just dealt with one of the iciest winters that we’ve had in many years, you should take the time to thoroughly inspect your exterior pipes. If you notice any leaks or signs of erosion, we highly recommended that you contact a licensed plumber.

We don’t recommend that you try to fix a plumbing-related issue without any prior experience.
