We offer drain repair in Uxbridge both in town, along Brock Street and Toronto Street, and in hamlets such as Goodwood, Leaskdale, Zephyr, Sandford and Siloam. Licensed plumbers drive up from Oshawa to repair drain and sewer pipe that has split, corroded, settled into a sag or been invaded by roots. Uxbridge is at the far end of our service area, so the details you give us on the phone help us plan the visit. Calls to (905) 576-3043 reach a live operator day or night.
Town sewer or private system in Uxbridge
The town is on Region of Durham sewers, which lead to the Uxbridge Brook plant, where wastewater is treated for roughly 12,200 people. On a sewered lot, the Region of Durham takes care of repairs to the stretch of lateral that runs from the one-metre mark outside the foundation out to the property line. From that mark into the house, the pipe is the owner's responsibility.
Rural homes are a different story: the Region of Durham points out that many rural residents rely on private water wells and septic systems. In the Township of Uxbridge, septic permits and septic inspections are the Durham Region Health Department's job, carried out on the Township's behalf. If your system was installed before 2016 and sits within 100 metres of a lake, pond, river or stream in the Lake Simcoe watershed, it is covered by the Township's mandatory maintenance inspection program, which the Health Department runs.
Inspections for drain work in Uxbridge
The Township of Uxbridge publishes its list of mandatory inspections for permitted work, and two of them deal with drains. The Plumbing Outside Service inspection covers installing building drains and the water supply to the building; the Plumbing Inside Service inspection covers building drains and water supply under the basement floor. The permit tells you which inspections apply when it is issued.
Inspections are requested through the Township's Cloudpermit portal. For a legacy permit, or if the portal gives you trouble, email inspections@uxbridge.ca or phone 905-852-9181, extension 403. A request made before noon can get an inspection the next business day, and the Township completes inspections within two business days. Before work begins, confirm with the Township if a permit is required for your repair.
Before you call: details that help
A few facts about your home make the first visit more useful, especially at this distance:
- Your servicing: town sewer, or a septic tank and leaching bed, plus where the cleanout or tank lid is if you know.
- Which sinks, tubs or toilets are draining poorly, and whether water has come up through a basement floor drain.
- Any earlier drain repairs, roots pulled out during past cleanings, or wet patches in the yard.
- Whether a Lake Simcoe program septic inspection has flagged the system.
Repair and cost in Uxbridge
On site, a blocked line is cleared first, then a sewer camera is fed through it to find the crack, sag, separated joint or root mass and how far it lies from the access point. We recommend replacing just the damaged section when the rest of the pipe is sound, and the full line when it is not.
Our 2026 Oshawa plumbing cost guide sets $500 to $1,500 as the range for spot work on a drain line and $3,000 to $10,000 to replace the full line, with the depth of the pipe, the way it can be reached and its material deciding the final number. We put that number in writing before any work. Problems with the water pipe feeding the house, rather than the drains, belong to our water line repair and replacement service.
