Faucet Repair and Fixture Installation in Whitby

Bathroom and kitchen faucets, shower valves and trim, sinks, tubs and frost-free outdoor taps, from the brands we carry or the fixture you have already bought.

Undermount sink with a black widespread faucet

Hayes Plumbing installs faucets and plumbing fixtures for Whitby and Brooklin homeowners from our shop at 448 Ritson Rd. South in Oshawa. We supply fixtures from Moen, Kohler, American Standard, Riobel and Mirolin, or install the ones you have chosen elsewhere. A new faucet is only as reliable as the valves and supply lines behind it, so on every installation we check the shut-off valves and connections and replace any that are stiff, corroded or weeping.

Faucets and Fixtures We Install

We install and replace the fixtures below. Kitchen sinks and faucets have their own page under our kitchen plumbing service.

  • Bathroom faucets: single-hole, centreset and widespread faucets need different hole layouts, so check the vanity top before you buy. We fit new supply lines and check the drain assembly while the sink is open.
  • Shower and tub valves: a shower that is hard to turn or swings between hot and cold usually needs a new cartridge or valve. Trim and shower heads are quick to change, while a new valve body means working behind the wall, often through the existing opening or with a remodel plate so the tile can stay.
  • Sinks, tubs and laundry taps: we replace vanity sinks, bathtubs, laundry tubs and utility sinks and reconnect the drain and water lines.
  • Outdoor taps: we replace leaking or frozen outdoor taps with frost-free models that resist freeze damage.

Faucet Repair in Whitby

A faucet that drips from the spout, leaks around the handle or base, or no longer shuts off fully does not always need replacing. Faucet repair and replacement are part of the everyday plumbing work Hayes Plumbing does across Whitby and Brooklin.

Most repairs come down to a worn part inside the faucet, such as the cartridge, a washer or the O-rings. When the faucet body is corroded, replacement parts are no longer made, or the repair would cost close to a new faucet, replacing it is the better choice. We tell you which one your faucet needs, and what it costs, before any work starts.

Whitby's Water and Your New Fixtures

Homes on municipal water in Whitby and Brooklin are supplied from the Region of Durham's Lake Ontario system, which the Region lists at a hardness of 125 milligrams per litre as calcium carbonate. Over time those minerals can leave white scale on aerators and showerheads and spots on shiny finishes. Unscrewing and cleaning the aerator is the first thing to try when a faucet's flow drops, and brushed or matte finishes tend to show water spots less than polished chrome.

The Region notes that its water meets aesthetic quality guidelines and that a water softener or filtration system is a personal preference rather than a requirement. If scale is a problem throughout the house, our water softener service can size a system for your household.

Moving Fixtures? Check Whitby's Permit Rules

Replacing a faucet in the same spot is a fixture swap. Moving a vanity, adding a shower or roughing in a new bathroom changes the plumbing system, and the Town of Whitby lists plumbing, drains and heating systems among the projects that need a building permit. Applications go to the Town's Building Services Division through its E-Portal, by email or in person at 3050 Garden Street, Unit 102.

Once a permit is issued, inspections are booked through the Town's online inspection request form, and requests received by 3 p.m. can be scheduled for the next business day. For a full bathroom project with a new layout, tile and fixtures, see our bathroom renovation service.

Fixture Installation Cost in Whitby

Fixture installations are quoted per job, because the labour depends on the fixture, the access and whether valves or supply lines need replacing. Fixtures we supply are listed separately on the written quote, and shower valve replacements that require opening the wall are priced after we see the layout. Nothing starts until you have the price in writing.

Fixture Installation in Whitby: FAQs

Common questions from Whitby homeowners.

Often, yes. A drip or a leak at the handle usually comes from a worn cartridge, washer or O-ring that can be replaced. If the faucet is corroded or parts are no longer available, we recommend a replacement and quote it before we start.

We carry Moen, Kohler, American Standard, Riobel and Mirolin, and we install fixtures from other brands that you supply.

Often, yes. Many valves can be replaced through the existing opening or with a remodel plate that covers the old cut-out. If the valve has to move or the tile is damaged, we explain the options and price them in writing first.

If they are stiff, weeping or no longer close fully, yes. Old shut-off valves often fail once they are disturbed, and it is easier to replace them while the water is already off for the faucet.

Yes. Check the hole layout and connection type before you buy, or send us the model number, and we will confirm it fits the existing sink, valves and drain.
